To our cherished patrons,

I know that it has been weeks of wonder and worry, about what kind of trouble our bakery has been in. First and foremost, I would like to express gratitude for all of the kind, caring customers who have been trying to figure out how they can help us in our despair. We are tremendously grateful for your prayers and concern.

Our family has been forced to endure two very grief filled tragic events that have rendered me unable to put words onto paper or social media. My family comes first and I’ve been focusing all of my energy and time into caring and praying for them, day by day.

My beloved mother was battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and just as she was preparing to start another treatment, we were told that she needed to be on Hospice care immediately. She lasted only about 4 weeks, of the 3 months that was estimated that she had left to live. At the same time, as we were preparing to lay her to rest, my husband became very ill with COVID-19. He valiantly battled the virus for 16 days before having to be put onto a ventilator. He is waiting to receive ECMO for a higher level of life support as well. There were and still are no additional cases of COVID-19 associated with Ingram’s Busy Bee Bakery’s employees or our family.

No one truly can understand the heartache and the pain that I feel for my husband. He has selflessly given 24 years of his life, working overnights, to provide the Downers Grove community with his very special baked goods. He has been baking for 36 years total, missing time with family and friends; a consequence of his dedication to his life’s work. My heart is indescribably shattered at the thought of how much suffering he has endured while battling COVID-19 in intensive care. We have been together for 32 years and he has been my best friend, my life’s love, and my soul mate. There is no doubt that he is the driving force of our family and this bakery. Please consider praying for his recovery during this very difficult time for him and our family. As he selflessly and wholeheartedly, gave his time and talent, to provide a service for this community, he never deserved to be this sick. I know he will be looking forward to the day he can return to his life’s passion here at Busy Bee Bakery. Thank you for any prayer that you may be able to provide to us during our time of need. We are both looking forward to the day that we may be able to flip our OPEN sign back on and get back to serving our community.
